Overview

Our 5 Day Tanzania Tented Camp Safari takes you to the beauty that is the infamous Serengeti National Park while camping in the untamed wilderness and heading off on action-packed safaris. You will travel with approximately 7-10 people that are like-minded, if not people you have chosen to travel with. Specially designed 4×4 vehicles will take you on the rough Tanzanian roads, but these are the best times for game viewing as you are guaranteed a window seat.

Itinerary

You be collected from your hotel and then take a 2 hour drive to the beautiful Tarangire National Park. Travelling through the reserve in an open air vehicle, experience a close up with the elephants, buffalos, zebras, gnus as well as various types of antelope and gazelles. We will enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush and take in more of the park. After admiring the wonders of nature, we make our way out of the park and drive to the Lake Burunge Tented Camp where you can relax amongst the bushes with stunning views of the lake. You will be able to socialise in the lounge, bar or dining area which are built on a raised wooden deck. Accommodation: Lake Burunge Tented Camp. Meals: Lunch, Dinner. Included Highlight: Tarangire National Park Game Drive. Distance: 150km (2 -3 hours travelling time).

We depart the Tarangire Area after breakfast and head towards the Rift Valley where we will pass through Mto Wa Mbu and Karatu. We will make our way to the perfect vantage point of the Ngorongoro Crater. Then we will circle the crater and descend to the other side. A bumpy ride will take us to the Masaai villages as we make our way to the Serengeti National Park. The Naabi Hill entrance gate gives us a fantastic viewpoint across the plains of the Serengeti. It is then off to the Seronera Area in the central part of the Serengeti where you can look out for the ‘Big Five’. Lunch will be taken en-route. We will arrive at the Kati Kati Tented Camp in the late afternoon. This is a secluded camp which is perfect for listening to the call of the wild under the glistening starry skies. Accommodation: Kati Kati Tented Camp. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included Highlight: Serengeti National Park Game Drive. Distance: 280km (5 – 7 hours travelling time).

We will have a hearty breakfast to fill us up for a game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Lunch will be at a lovely picnic spot. Depending on the time of the year you may be able to witness the great migration where thousands of wildebeests, zebras and Thompson gazelles head for greener pastures. During October and November it is the rainy season and you will see the animals moving from the Kenyan Masai Mara through to the northwest. April, May and June brings heavy rain and so the herds travel back to the western and north-western part of the Serengeti. With all these animals a large presence of predators are in tow and kills might be seen. We return to Kati Kati camp for what we hope will be a time of sharing the action that you saw during the day. Accommodation: Kati Kati Tented Camp. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Included Highlight: Serengeti National Park Game Drive. Please note: If you are travelling between January and March you will stay at the Ndutu Kati Kati Tented Camp. This camp is situated closer to the border where a mass of herds can be seen during their migration.

Daybreak will have us rising to the rays of sun and enjoying breakfast. We head off from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The lions, leopards and cheetahs are usually very active in the cooler hours. We will enjoy a picnic lunch in a designated area. We will reach the crater’s edge and hold on as we descend into it for an adventurous journey. The crater is packed with over 25 000 animals including lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. We will then ascend the crater and drive to Karatu where we overnight. Accommodation: Tanganyika Wilderness Adventure Lodge. Meals: Breakfast; Lunch; Dinner. Included Highlight: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive. Distance: 170km (3 – 5 hours travelling time).

We will return to Arusha after breakfast and should arrive at about noon. For those of you who want to join the tour to Zanzibar you can take a flight from the Arusha airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport. Lunch will be taken during our journey. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch. Distance: 160km (2 – 3 hours travelling time). Onward Travel Plans. Due to circumstances beyond our control while on tour (such as border crossings, traffic, breakdowns and delays, etc), the end time on the last day cannot be guaranteed. Therefore we strongly recommend you stay the night and fly out the next day. Please consult with your booking consultant.

Distance: 154 km. Non Game Viewing Time: 3 to 4 hrs. Morning at leisure, have breakfast & depending on your flight time (Option) you can do a guided nature walk along Endoro trial all the way to the elephant cave, the walk is of about 2 to 3 hours (Cost is $ 30 per person). Then back for hot lunch before driving back to Arusha for overnight (own account) or drop off at Kilimanjaro international airport. KLM or other late flights can be the best option if flying on this day. End of our special and 6 days Tanzania lodge safari with overnight stay at mid-range lodges and tented camps. All accommodation subjected to availability.
